A Vision for a
Better West Chester
Hello! I'm Amanda Ortiz, and I'm thrilled to be running for West Chester Township Trustee. My husband, Matt, and I made West Chester our home in 2016, and we’re proud to be raising our two daughters, Marie and Ansley, in this amazing community.
As a veterinarian and lifelong animal advocate, I’ve dedicated my career to caring for those who can’t speak for themselves. After earning my veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in 2010, I spent six years in private practice helping families care for their beloved pets. Today, I work at a local cat shelter, where I focus on rescuing and rehabilitating unwanted, abused, and neglected cats.

I've always been intrigued by local government and service to others. I was a Resident Advisor (RA) in college, the president of my veterinary class for all four years, and I currently volunteer in my daughters’ schools. Through these opportunities, I’ve learned to listen and find solutions to problems. My passion for service, both in animal welfare and in our community, drives me to want to make West Chester an even better place to live. I believe in compassionate, practical leadership that listens to residents and gets things done.

But when local government falls short, the effects ripple across the entire community.

Right now, West Chester is losing the charm that once made it special. Our schools are overcrowded. Our roads are congested. And many families don’t feel there are enough safe, welcoming outdoor spaces to enjoy together. We can—and must—do better.

As a resident, a parent, and a professional, I believe West Chester needs a government that truly listens. One that puts its current residents and businesses first and invests property tax dollars wisely into things that matter: education, infrastructure, and community spaces.

It's time for change—and I want to be part of that change.
